Palmyra trucker hospitalized after milk tanker collides with pole and ditch in Ontario

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office gave an update on a personal injury crash that happened a little before 2 p.m. on State Route 350 in the town of Ontario.

Friday deputies were called for a large truck that had struck a ditch and utility pole.


Upon arrival, deputies learned that James Powers, 73, of Palmyra was hauling milk for a local trucking company, when he had a medical emergency and briefly lost consciousness.

The truck suffered extensive damage after colliding with a utility pole and ditch. He was transported to Rochester General Hospital as a precaution.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by DEC Spill Response, RG&E, Earl T. Wadhams Trucking, Ontario Fire, Ontario Ambulance, Wayne County ALS, and Featherly’s Towing.
