Gas prices in New York have increased for the second week in a row, with the average price for a gallon of regular fuel reaching $3.22 on Monday. This marks a slight rise from the previous week’s average of $3.18 per gallon, as reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Over the past month, the state has seen a roughly 10-cent increase in gas prices.

The fluctuation in fuel costs over the past year has seen prices range from a low of $3.11 per gallon in January 2024 to a high of $3.86 in August 2023. Compared to the same period last year, when the average was $3.37 per gallon, current prices are approximately 5% lower.

Despite the recent increases, New York’s gas prices remain slightly below the national average, which stood at $3.27 per gallon last week. This national average itself has seen an uptick from $3.19 the week prior, highlighting a broader trend of rising fuel prices across the United States.
