In a swift response on Monday afternoon, Bath firefighters executed a successful rescue operation for a driver trapped in an overturned Kia Sorrento on the Mail Route near Sanford Road. Assistant Chief David Dowdle, first to arrive, found the car precariously positioned over a steep embankment, with the driver inside, unharmed but unable to exit the vehicle.

The rescue operation intensified as first responders called for additional support from Savona Fire for extrication assistance. Goodrich Auto Works and Bath Fire’s Heavy Rescue teams collaborated, employing winch cables to secure the vehicle, preventing further descent. The driver was safely extracted using a Stokes rescue basket and a low-angle rope rescue technique, later refusing medical treatment upon evaluation by the Bath Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The vehicle retrieval required the strength of a large rotator wrecker from Fleet Pride, finally restoring the vehicle to the road. The coordinated effort concluded at 4:39 PM, showcasing the dedication and skill of Bath’s emergency services.
