Newark man found guilty of predatory sex assault against a child

A jury has found a Wayne County man guilty of sexual assault.

According to a news release from the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office, David Evans, 34, was found guilty of predatory sex assault against a child and attempted rape.


The Newark Police Department led the investigation. He was living in Newark at the time of the incident, but wasn’t from the village.

District Attorney Callahan spoke to the strength of the victim, as well as the work of the Child Advocacy Center of Wayne County in the case.

Evans is slated for sentencing on April 24.
