Driver faces aggravated DWI, weapons charges after Seneca Falls crash with propane tanker

Police in Seneca Falls say a Wayne County man faces DWI charges after a crash involving a pickup truck and propane tanker.

It happened on the Auburn Road around 9:24 a.m. on Friday. The driver, identified as Chad Williams, 49, of Savannah, was traveling toward Seneca Falls on State Route 5 (Auburn Rd.) when he collided with a propane tanker.


Following an investigation, it was determined that Williams was intoxicated. Police say Williams was also in possession of a firearm illegally, due to a prior felony conviction.

Altogether, Williams has been charged with aggravated DWI, driving while intoxicated, consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, unlicensed operation, and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in local court.

First responders in Seneca Falls dealt with a serious accident on Auburn Road during the morning hours on Friday.

A pickup truck collided with the back of a propane tanker.


No injuries were reported, but the road was closed for over an hour.
