City Court Judge Seth Peacock has officially withdrawn from the race for Tompkins County Judge, a decision announced through the Tompkins County Democratic Committee.
Peacock’s withdrawal comes amidst discussions and speculation about his candidacy for the 10-year term, following County Judge John Rowley’s retirement announcement in December.
The retirement opens a vacancy on the county bench effective March 1, setting the stage for a new appointment.
Peacock’s decision to step back from the county judge race was originally reported by The Ithaca Voice.
