Waterloo police: Clyde man altered check before cashing it

Police in Waterloo arrested a 39-year-old Clyde resident following an incident involving an altered check.

According to a news release, William Brownlee, 39, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument following an investigation where it was determined he altered a check that was given to him.


The value of the check was modified by Brownlee, resulting in one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument. The Waterloo Police Department was assisted by the state Comptroller’s office.

The charge will be answered at a later date.
