PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING FOR ROUND TWO OF THE SENECA FALLS DRI BUILDING IMPROVEMENT FUND SET FOR FEBRUARY 28, 2024

The Seneca Falls Development Corporation (SFDC) will host a public information meeting regarding an available grant opportunity for downtown building owners. As part of the DRI’s Downtown Building Improvement Fund, the SFDC will be reallocating more than $350,000 in remaining DRI funds through the second round of this program.

The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 28 within the large community room at the Seneca Falls Community Center located at 35 Water Street.

The SFDC received funding from New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) to support a second round of applications in the program. The SFDC will award up to $100,000 in DRI Building Improvement grant funds, per building, not to exceed 50% of the total eligible project cost (75% if the project is for a non-profit entity).

Full program details are provided within the Building Improvement Fund application, which is available at http://senecafallsdri.com.

“We encourage every interested property owner within the DRI boundary to participate because we have more than $350,000 in available funding to reallocate to the downtown area,” said Greg Zellers, SFDC Director. “Interested parties do not need to wait for the informational meeting to begin the application process and we actually encourage an early start so we can help applicants navigate any hurdles well ahead of the April 5 deadline.”

Building renovation funds may be used to renovate facades, storefronts and commercial interiors, with additional funding available per building if there is also an upper-level residential component. The breakdown of additional funding is up to $25,000 for projects that produce a minimum of 1-2 residential units and up to $50,000 available for projects that produce a minimum of 3 or more residential units. The maximum award is $150,000.

For those who cannot attend the public meeting in person, it will be available via Zoom video conferencing by registering at http://senecafallsdri.com/register for access.
