The New York State Police are renewing their appeal to the public for assistance in locating Jeffrey J. Rumsey, who has been missing from Big Flats since February 13, 2017. Rumsey, who was 39 at the time of his disappearance, vanished following a traffic stop near Minier’s Park around 9:30 p.m. Despite a thorough search by a state police K-9 unit to the Chemung River’s shore, Rumsey’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Rumsey is described as a white male, 6’3” tall, with brown hair and blue eyes, weighing approximately 200 pounds. He has distinctive tattoos, including a Celtic armband on his left bicep and a red star on his left elbow. At the time he went missing, he was wearing a black t-shirt, jeans, and boots.

The New York State Police urge anyone with information on Rumsey’s current location to come forward. Tips can be shared by calling 585-398-4100 or emailing [email protected], as efforts to find Rumsey continue.
