BEV NY conference coming to Canandaigua; registration open now

Registration is now open for the B.E.V. NY Conference, set to take place March 5-6 at the new Hotel Canandaigua. This pivotal annual event, crafted by the New York Wine & Grape Foundation in collaboration with Cornell University, unites the grape and wine community around business, enology, and viticulture (B.E.V.) themes. Special registration rates are available for New York Wine & Grape Foundation members and group registrations from the same entity, with all details available on the conference website. This year’s gathering promises a wealth of knowledge tailored for industry growers, winemakers, and marketing professionals, with an emphasis on hands-on applications for enhancing business operations.

The conference will kick off with insights into the current dynamics of the U.S. wine and alcoholic beverage sector, highlighting consumer trends and industry adaptations. Dr. Kathy Kelley from Penn State University will lead the opening discussions, setting the stage for a day filled with expert-led sessions. Afternoon breakouts will delve into viticulture and enology, including pest management strategies eligible for pesticide credits from the DEC, responding to modern challenges in vineyard maintenance and winemaking.

Day two of B.E.V. NY continues the discourse with Dr. Richard Stup from Cornell’s Agricultural Workforce Development program addressing labor regulations impacting agricultural employees and employers. The program also features a panel on harvest decision-making, uniting growers and winemakers in dialogue, and concludes with reflections on the 2023 growing season, aimed at fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between vineyard and winery operations. The conference underscores its relevance with a fully booked Trade Show, highlighting the anticipation and industry support for this year’s event. Early Bird pricing is available until February 15, encouraging early registration.
