New charges in Steuben County gang assault case

A birthday party in Hornby escalated into a violent altercation on November 26, 2023, after partygoers consumed alcohol and drugs, according to new details released by New York State Police.

The incident occurred alongside State Route 414, resulting in several arrests. Angela M. Travis, 27, of Corning, initially struck Nicole L. Zazynski, 33, of Elmira, leading to a brawl that left Travis with serious injuries.

Travis was hospitalized for her injuries and was later charged with third-degree assault, with a court appearance scheduled for March 6. In response to the attack, Zazynski, Wesley L. Jones II, 42, of Horseheads, and Dausen Seymour, 24, of Corning, were charged with second-degree gang assault, a felony, and faced arraignment in Steuben County Court.

The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of substance abuse and violence at social events, prompting legal repercussions for those involved.
