The Village of Camillus is looking forward to welcoming a new Byrne Dairy store, proposed to be built on the site of the former TK Tavern on Newport Road, which was destroyed by fire in January 2023. The project, which includes a 4,200 square foot store complete with a deli and gas pumps, is still in the planning stages awaiting necessary approvals before proceeding.
Mayor Dick Waterman of Camillus has confirmed that the project’s progress is contingent on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) approval due to the proposed site’s location in a floodplain or floodway. The timeline for FEMA’s approval remains uncertain, but once granted, the construction of the Byrne Dairy store is expected to take around six months.
Local officials and residents are eager for the project to commence, highlighting the need for a convenience store and deli within the village. The addition of Byrne Dairy is anticipated to fill this gap, bringing both convenience and new jobs to the community.
