Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) has announced an impressive 95% pass rate for its nursing graduates on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in 2023. This achievement outperforms the New York State average pass rates for both associate and bachelor’s degree holders in nursing.
Out of 59 FLCC nursing graduates who took the NCLEX-RN, 56 successfully passed. FLCC offers a comprehensive associate degree in nursing, designed for completion within two years of full-time study. The 2023 pass rate not only exceeds the state averages of 88% and 90% for associate and bachelor’s degree graduates respectively but also marks an increase from FLCC’s 93% pass rate in 2022.
Heather Reece-Tillack, the chair of FLCC’s Nursing Department, attributed this success to the commitment and support of the department’s faculty and staff, as well as the cooperative learning environment at the college. FLCC’s curriculum focuses on clinical judgment and includes various learning reinforcements like recorded lectures, online quizzes, and professional tutoring. Additionally, the college expanded its nursing facilities with the Sands Family Center for Allied Health in 2022 and has begun accepting nursing students twice a year to accommodate more aspiring nurses.
