New York Congressman Brandon Williams has announced his endorsement of Donald Trump for the upcoming presidential election. Williams, representing New York’s 22nd district, declared his support following Trump’s victory in the New Hampshire GOP primary. On social media, Williams emphasized the need for a Republican leader to address pressing national issues, including inflation, border chaos, and rising crime rates. He stressed the urgency of replacing progressive policies with Republican governance.
This endorsement marks a shift from Williams’ previous neutral stance, particularly noted in August 2023 when he responded minimally to Trump’s fourth indictment. Williams’ recent statements also endorse New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, commending her federal experience as a potential Vice Presidential candidate.
Williams’ endorsement places him alongside a select group of New York House Republicans, including Claudia Tenney, Elise Stefanik, and Nick Langworthy, in publicly supporting Trump. He is one of only two New York House Republicans from districts won by President Joe Biden in 2020 to back Trump, joining Long Island’s Rep. Nick LaLota.
