Fabian Rivera, the recently resigned chief of the Macedon Police Department, appeared in Macedon Town Court on Monday, facing charges of driving while intoxicated. The incident occurred on November 20, when Rivera crashed his patrol vehicle on Waterford Road near Gananda Parkway. Due to potential conflicts of interest, Rivera’s case has been transferred to Walworth Town Court.
Investigations revealed that Macedon Police Sgt. Brigette Goodfriend and Officer-in-Training Nash Ritz drove Rivera home following the crash. Subsequently, Rivera reportedly drove again while intoxicated. Sgt. Goodfriend, who has been suspended with pay pending an investigation, conducted field sobriety tests on Rivera upon his return, where he was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.25, significantly over the legal limit.
Wayne County’s acting district attorney, Christine Callanan, confirmed an investigation into the handling of Rivera’s arrest by the Macedon Police Department.
