In Tompkins County, a routine traffic stop led to an unexpected discovery: a suspected methamphetamine lab and two illegal firearms. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, following a car search in Ithaca with suspended registration, obtained a search warrant for a Newfield home. The traffic stop revealed various illegal drugs including crack, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and several pills.
The driver, Barbara Barber from Alpine, and the passenger, Eric Walker from Newfield, are now facing felony charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were detained for arraignment at the Sheriff’s Office Centralized Arraignment Court.
Further investigation is ongoing, especially into Walker, whose home was the site of the suspected meth lab. The Sheriff’s Office has hinted at the possibility of additional charges against Walker, emphasizing the severity and ongoing nature of the case.
