Darrell V. Richmond, a 64-year-old man from Cortland, has been charged with driving under the influence after being involved in a single-car accident. The incident occurred in the early hours of January 7 near Clarks Corners Road in the town of Lapeer.
Responding to the scene at approximately 12:59 a.m., the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office determined that Richmond was operating his vehicle while impaired by alcohol, leading to the crash. He was arrested shortly after the incident, at 1:27 a.m.
Richmond faces multiple charges including Driving While Intoxicated and Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or more, both misdemeanors. He also received citations for Failure to Keep Right and Operating a Vehicle with an Unsafe Tire, both traffic violations.
The charges will be answered at a later date.
