Hornell man among two charged in fatal car accident over holiday weekend

In the town of Cuba two men, including a Hornell resident, have been arrested and charged in relation to a fatal car accident that occurred over the holiday weekend.

Dustin S. Cowles, 22, from Cuba, and Kameron M. Mills, 22, from Hornell, were apprehended by local police shortly after midnight on December 30.


Cowles faces several charges, including second-degree manslaughter, fleeing the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, and criminal tampering with physical evidence, all classified as felonies. Additionally, he is charged with misdemeanors for reckless driving and obstruction of governmental administration, along with two vehicle and traffic violations. Following his arraignment in the Town of Cuba Court, Cowles was detained in the Allegany County Jail without bail.

Mills, charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, criminal tampering with physical evidence, and obstruction of governmental administration, was arraigned and released on pre-trial conditions, with a later court date set.
