Sabres erase two deficits before falling to Rangers in OT

The Buffalo Sabres erased two deficits to gain a point in the standings but still fell 4-3 to the New York Rangers in overtime at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

Buffalo (14-17-4) trailed 2-0 in the first period and 3-2 late in the second but tied the game early in the third before falling in OT on Chris Kreider’s goal.

Rasmus Dahlin (10), Jack Quinn (2), and Casey Mittelstadt (9) scored for the Sabres. Jordan Greenway tallied two assists, while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 29 saves.

Buffalo went 0-for-1 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Sabres get a few days off for the Christmas break and return to action on Wednesday at home against the Boston Bruins at 7:30 p.m.
