A fire broke out in a home at Meadowbrook Park in Newfield early Thursday afternoon, but thanks to the swift response of local fire services, no injuries were reported. Newfield Fire Chief Zack Guidi was on the scene within six minutes of the emergency dispatch. On arrival, he found the fire spreading rapidly in the residence and immediately called for mutual aid from neighboring Ithaca and West Danby fire departments.
Interior firefighters from the responding teams made a quick and aggressive attack on the flames, successfully extinguishing them. Additional crew members were involved in the overhaul process to ensure the fire was completely controlled. The collaborative efforts of the fire departments played a crucial role in managing the situation effectively.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Newfield Fire Company. In the meantime, the resident affected by the fire is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The Newfield Fire Company expressed gratitude to all the assisting agencies, including the Ithaca Fire Department, West Danby Fire Department, Bangs Ambulance, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, NYSEG, and the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response for their support and efficient handling of the incident.
