In Waterloo, the Board of Education has decided to postpone the hiring of Robert Banzer as their interim school superintendent.
According to the Finger Lakes Times, the board voted unanimously to table a motion for Banzer’s appointment, indicating that further negotiations are needed.
Banzer, set to retire on December 31 from his current role as superintendent of the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District was being considered to take over following Michael Midey.
Midey had been serving as the acting superintendent after the retirement of Terri Bavis on December 3.
Banzer brings significant experience to the position if appointed. He has been a classroom teacher for 11 years, teaching U.S. history and economics in Maryland and Brockport school districts. His administrative career includes positions such as director of Human Resources in the Wayne Central School District and assistant superintendent for instruction in Brockport.
Additionally, Banzer has experience as a middle school principal and assistant high school principal in Brockport, and has served as the superintendent of the Northport-East Northport UFSD district for the past eight years.
