Snowshoe events scheduled throughout January, February at Montezuma Audubon Center

You can join the Montezuma Audubon Center staff every Saturday in January and February for a snowshoe experience.

This leisure 1-mile snowshoe will explore our wetlands, grasslands, and forests and give participants a chance to see our winter residents such as the Northern Harrier and Dark-eyed Junco. We will traverse through the winter carpet of freshly fallen snow which captures the story of hardy mammals like the coyote, mink, red fox, and muskrat.

Here is the list of snowshoe hikes:

  • Saturday, January 6 @ 10am & 1pm
  • Saturday, January 13 @ 10am & 1pm
  • Saturday, January 20 @ 10am & 1pm
  • Saturday, January 27 @ 10am & 1pm
  • Saturday, February 3 @ 10am & 1pm
  • Saturday, February 10 @ 10am & 1pm
  • Saturday, February 17 @ 10am & 1pm
  • Saturday, February 24 @ 10am & 1pm

An Audubon educator will lead participants through our Montezuma Audubon Center trails (2295 State Route 89, Savannah, NY 13146). All participants must be over the age of 7 years old and children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required for every hike. These excursions are FREE and funded by the New York State Canal Corporation. Snowshoes, binoculars, and bird guides will be provided. Programs will proceed as guided hikes if there is not enough snow for snowshoeing.
