The former Bombardier plant in Auburn, which has been vacant since 2006, is seeing a resurgence of interest, prompting an extension of the deadline for submitting purchase offers to February 15, 2024.
It represents a two-month extension from the original December 15 deadline, according to The Citizen.
This decision, made by Alstom and Pyramid Brokerage Co., the commercial real estate firm handling the sale, comes after Alstom acquired Bombardier Transportation and subsequently took ownership of the 15.7-acre property at 151 Orchard Street.
The city of Auburn, recognizing the potential of this site, has received an $8.5 million grant from the state’s Restore NY Communities Initiative for its redevelopment.
There’s significant upside to the property, officials believe, because of the proximity to Onondaga County’s Micron development.
