The trend continued Saturday night in Arizona as the Buffalo Sabres failed to string back-to-back wins together, falling 2-0 to the Coyotes at Mullett Arena and dropping to 13-16-3.
Buffalo outshot Arizona 28-22 but couldn’t get anything past Karel Vejmelka.
Zach Benson and Rasmus Dahlin led the Sabres with four shots on goal. Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson had glorious shorthanded opportunities, finishing with two shots each.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 20-of-22 shots but had a brutal giveaway behind the net, allowing the Coyotes to score their first goal.
The Sabres will return to action Tuesday when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7 p.m.
