Recovery and support follow fatal Newfield car accident: GoFundMe’s setup for two student-athletes

In the aftermath of a tragic three-car crash in Newfield that resulted in the death of Waverly High School senior Peyton Shaw, Ty Beeman, the driver of the involved Toyota and a student-athlete at Mansfield University, is now reported to be in stable condition at Robert Packer Hospital.

Beeman, 18, was airlifted to the hospital following the Tuesday accident, which sadly claimed the life of his passenger, 17-year-old Shaw.

As Beeman continues his recovery, the Mansfield University Athletics department has extended its support, acknowledging the profound impact of the incident on both the Mansfield and Waverly, communities.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist in Beeman’s recovery efforts, which has garnered significant support, raising over $20,000 as of early Friday.

The Waverly Central School District is also deeply affected by this tragedy, with Superintendent Eric Knolles highlighting Shaw’s significant contributions as a three-sport athlete, class officer, and top student.

The district is coordinating with Shaw’s family and students to plan a fitting tribute in her memory. In addition to the support for Beeman, a separate GoFundMe has been set up for Shaw’s family, which has already surpassed its $30,000 goal by raising $31,000.

These fundraising efforts reflect the communities’ solidarity and compassion in the face of this heartbreaking event, offering some solace and support to the families and friends of both Peyton Shaw and Ty Beeman.
