Supervisors approve $213.3M budget in Wayne County

The Wayne County Board of Supervisors has approved a $213.3 million budget for 2024, marking a significant decrease in the tax levy by $2 million and lowering the tax rate.

The budget, which reflects a 6.4% increase from the current $200 million, was adopted following a public hearing on December 5, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

Despite the overall budget increase, the tax levy has been set at $42 million, a 4.5% reduction compared to this year’s $44 million.

The new tax rate will be $5.56 per $1,000 of assessed property value, a 14.5% decrease from the current rate of $6.50.

The budget also includes a substantial $64 million allocation for personal services, increasing by 9.4% from 2023.
