Police: Drunk driver stopped by firefighter from driving onto 5K course in Seneca Falls

Police arrested a Niskayuna resident for DWI in Seneca Falls after they drove around a police barricade and onto the It’s a Wonderful Run 5K course.

Catherine Neidbalec, age 66, was charged with DWI after the investigation on Cayuga Street.


Police said Neidbalec attempted to drive around a barricade and onto the roadway during the 5k race of Its a Wonderful Life 5k Run. She was stopped by a firefighter, who prevented the vehicle from entering the roadway while the race was still happening.

She was found to be intoxicated and ticketed. The charges will be answered at a later date.
