Felony weapon charges for two after traffic stop in Steuben County

Two people were taken into custody on felony weapons charges in Steuben County, according to authorities.


Shane Jacobs, 41, and Charles Sweeney III, 47, both of Corning, were arrested after a traffic stop.

Drugs and an illegal handgun were discovered during the roadside investigation.

Police said Jacobs and Sweeney had prior felony convictions and were held without bail. They have been charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Additional charges are expected.
