Auburn youth facility worker arrested for inciting fight between teens

An employee at the Harriet Tubman Residential Facility in Cayuga County found herself under arrest following allegations of instigating a fight between two teenage residents.

Ali VanGiesen, 28, of Auburn, was apprehended on November 30, concluding a detailed investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Auburn station.

The inquiry, which began after a report from the New York State Justice Center, centered on an incident on September 21st, where VanGiesen is accused of provoking an altercation between two 15-year-old girls at the facility.

VanGiesen faces charges of official misconduct and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all classed as C misdemeanors.

She is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on January 10.
