State Police are conducting an investigation into a fatal car accident that occurred in the Town of Sodus on Tuesday. The collision happened on State Route 104 at around 1:45 p.m., involving two vehicles.

Cory Mayo, a 28-year-old resident of Sodus, was driving his Chevy Silverado northbound on South Geneva Road with his passenger, 51-year-old Clifford Mayo, when the accident occurred.

According to the initial investigation, the crash took place when Mayo failed to yield at the intersection with State Route 104, subsequently colliding with a Chevy HHR. The HHR, driven by 63-year-old Calvin Grant from Williamson, was traveling east on Route 104 at the time. Accompanying Grant were two passengers, 58-year-old Carol Bruni from Sodus and 62-year-old Velma Frank from Wolcott.

The accident resulted in varying degrees of injuries for those involved. While Frank and Clifford Mayo received treatment at the scene, Cory Mayo and Bruni were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Tragically, Grant did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The State Police’s ongoing investigation aims to determine the full circumstances surrounding this fatal incident.
