Mets agree to 1-year contract with reliever Jorge López

If there’s one thing the New York Mets needed heading into the offseason, it was quality bullpen arms.

On Thursday night, the club agreed to a one-year, $2-million contract with right-handed reliever Jorge López, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported

López, 30, pitched for the Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins, and Baltimore Orioles in 2023. He struggled, posting a 5.95 ERA over 59 innings.

However, López had a career year with Baltimore in 2022, recording a 2.54 ERA and earning a spot on the American League All-Star team.
