With the IIHF launching VIP ticket sales for the 2024 World Championship, punters are already searching for the best ice hockey betting tips.

Many are wondering if Canada will defend its title or lose it to its closest rivals Germany, Finland, or Latvia. Canada defied the odds by winning the gold title in the 2023 championship after beating Germany 5-2.

Germany failed the expectations of many after finishing second despite showing a lot of promise throughout the championship. Nonetheless, the silver medal is quite an achievement since this is their best performance since 1953.

Latvia surprised many by taking home the bronze medal after flooring the US 4-3. This was their first medal ever in the history of the IIHF World Championship.

Finland, the host and the defending champions, were kicked out in the quarter-finals after a 4-1 loss to Canada. The loss was a bitter pill to swallow for the many punters who were backing the Finns as their betting favourites.

In the last 3 years, the IIHF World Championship gold medal has been alternating between Canada and Finland.

But will Finland break or maintain the winning streak? Also, should punters back Finland as their betting favourite in the upcoming 2024 IIHF World Championship?

Finland has a better chance of reclaiming the betting favourite title

Sports analysts are upbeat that Finland will reclaim the gold title in the 2024 World Championship. The Finns have won the most gold medals in the IIHF World Championship since 2010.

Since 2019, the gold medal has been alternating between Canada and Finland. The upcoming championship is likely not to be an exception. Finland has confirmed that all its stars will play thus increasing the possibility of taking the championship.

In the 2023 IIHF championship, the Finns were at a disadvantage since their main star, Patrick Laine, couldn’t play due to injury. The team has confirmed that all the stars will participate in the highly awaited 2024 IIHF championship.

According to local betting sites and kasinot ilman rekisteröitymistä Finland is also likely to rise unchallenged since it will face weaker teams in the quarter-finals. It’s also highly likely to face teams that haven’t won the championship for many years in the semifinals.

This means that they are likely to meet with the Canadians and the Germans in the finals. The Latvians could also make it to the semifinals but the odds of taking any medal are completely against them.

The 2024 IIHF schedule

The Czech Republic will be hosting the 2024 IIHF World Championship after nine years. The matches will take place in Ostrava and Prague arenas from 10th to 26th May 2024.

These two ice hockey arenas have a combined capacity of nearly 26000 people. The Prague arena will host the group “A” teams which include Finland, Canada, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Norway, Great Britain, Denmark and Austria.

Group B teams will play in the Ostrava Arena and include the USA, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Poland, and France. A total of 34 games will take place in Plague while Ostrava will host 30 games. Prague will host the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the finals.

Finland will open the championship by playing against the host in Prague on 10th May 2024. The first game is likely to be a piece of cake for the Finns since Czechia hasn’t won any medals since 2010 despite hosting the championship severally. The first win is likely to fuel the Finns to make it to the finals.

Ticket sales for the games have started with IIHF announcing the VIP sale from December 5. Single-game tickets will be available from 16th January 2024. Punters who prefer enjoying the game when they wager on their favourite matches should buy the tickets now.
