Lyons sex offender arrested for violating registry conditions

  • Staff Report

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 33-year-old Lyons man for violating his sex offender registry conditions.

Jason D. Ward, who is currently detained at the Wayne County Jail on unrelated charges, was issued an appearance ticket for failing to notify authorities of his address change, a violation classified as a Class E Felony.

According to the sheriff’s office, Ward moved from his previous residence on October 19, 2023, and did not report his new address within the required 10-day period to the Department of Criminal Justice Services or the Wayne County Sheriff’s office.

This non-compliance constitutes a breach of New York State Corrections Law, which mandates registered sex offenders to promptly inform relevant authorities of any address changes.

Ward is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lyons Justice Court at a later date to respond to the charge.
