Parking in Ithaca’s garages? Costs could be going up in January

The Common Council’s City Administration Committee in Ithaca is deliberating modest increases to monthly parking rates in the city’s four municipal garages, effective January.

The proposal comes as the city faces a 32% hike in operational costs for these parking structures next year, according to The Ithaca Voice.

Most permit holders would experience less than a 5% increase in parking fees. The maximum increase per month is capped at $10, with no immediate changes planned for hourly parking rates, although an adjustment might be considered by mid-2024.

These proposed rate hikes are part of an effort to align parking costs with inflation and the increasing interest payments that follow.
