Vehicle jumps road, collides with sign, then backs down into parking lot in Tyre crash

The Clyde-Galen Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident in the town of Tyre on November 29 at approximately 6:14 p.m.

The department was alerted to a vehicle that had gone down an embankment, with the driver uncertain of their location. Initial efforts to locate the vehicle in the specified area by fire units on scene, along with the New York State Police (NYSP) and North Seneca EMS, were unsuccessful.

However, the fire department’s engine and rescue units were then deployed to assist in the search.

They were instructed to use their scene lights to illuminate down embankments in the area and along the north side of the thruway as they entered Tyre, expanding the search due to the unclear location of the incident.

The vehicle was eventually located and found to have left the road, jumped over another road, hit a road sign, and then backed down to a nearby parking lot of a local business.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported at the scene. Fire crews quickly cleared the area of debris and returned to service shortly after.

The Clyde-Galen Fire Department also extended their gratitude to the Seneca Falls Fire Department for their assistance in locating the vehicle.
