At a recent meeting, the Cayuga County Legislature considered three proposals for allocating $375,000 in economic development funds in the tentative 2024 budget.
The Citizen reported options include continuing to fund the Cayuga Economic Development Agency (CEDA), directing the funds to the Cayuga County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA), or bringing economic development duties under the county’s organizational structure.
The debate centers around what would be considered the most-effective method. CEDA, which has traditionally received this funding, is currently under scrutiny.
The Legislature also heard proposals for integrating economic development into the county’s own structure.
The meeting concluded without a public vote, leaving the final decision on economic development funding pending.
