Syracuse man faces several felony charges after being found with fentanyl, cocaine, and other drugs on Arterial

Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck announced the arrest of a Syracuse man on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Auburn.

Jerrell A. Brown, 35, faces two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a B felony, and one count of possession in the fourth degree, a C felony.

The arrest occurred on November 23, 2023, during a DWI enforcement operation by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. Deputies stopped Brown’s vehicle on Arterial West near North Fulton Street in Auburn. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies spotted what seemed to be illegal drugs, leading to a further investigation and search of the vehicle and Brown.

The search resulted in the seizure of 90 glassine envelopes of fentanyl, 5.3 grams of cocaine, and a significant amount of dimethylpentylone, commonly known as “Molly”.

Following the discovery, Brown was taken into custody and processed at the PSB, before being transferred to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Finger Lakes Drug Taskforce, the Cayuga County Sheriff K9 Unit, the Cayuga County E-911 Center, and the Auburn Police Department in this operation.
