NWS updates advisories, warnings as lake snow picks up: How much will travel be impacted?

The National Weather Service has issued new advisories for moderate lake effect snow that will impact portions of the Finger Lakes through Wednesday.

While the most significant snowfall will occur directly east and southeast of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie – Wayne and Cayuga counties will also see moderate accumulation.

The National Weather Service is forecasting 4-7 inches of snowfall for Wayne. Meanwhile, Northern Cayuga County can expect 8-12 inches of snow. Lake Effect Snow Warnings are active for Northern Cayuga and points northeast.

Travel will be difficult at times in these areas, but will be significantly worse if traveling north into Oswego, or the Syracuse-area.

Points south of Wayne County should only see 1-3 inches of snow by late-Wednesday.
