In a late-night incident, Penn Yan Police apprehended Edwin Diaz following a routine traffic stop that revealed multiple infractions.
The stop, which occurred early Wednesday morning, led to the discovery of signs of intoxication in Diaz, prompting officers to conduct field sobriety tests.
During the tests, Diaz demonstrated significant impairment, failing to meet the required standards set by law enforcement.
Subsequent to his performance in these tests, he underwent a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content (BAC). The results showed a BAC level of .20, significantly above New York’s legal limit.
Diaz faces several charges, including aggravated driving while intoxicated (DWI), standard DWI, operating a vehicle with insufficient tail lamps, driving without a license, and using an insufficient turn signal.
Following the incident, he was released with traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to address these charges.
