Abigail Marotta, a standout soccer player at Marion Junior-Senior High School, has officially signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic career at the University of Toledo. Marotta, a senior, has had an impressive tenure on the girls varsity soccer team at Marion, contributing significantly to the team’s success over her six seasons.
During her time at Marion, Marotta achieved remarkable statistics, scoring 128 goals and providing 96 assists. Her contributions were pivotal in securing two Section V championships and propelling her team to the state semifinals in 2019.
Beyond her team’s accomplishments, Marotta’s individual success was recognized through numerous accolades. She earned first-team All-Wayne County honors five times and was named the Wayne County Player of the Year in 2021. Additionally, her skills garnered her first-team all-state honors in Class D following the 2021 season and a fourth-team selection in 2022, along with two selections to the first-team All-Greater Rochester.
Marotta’s signing ceremony was a celebration of her achievements, attended by her parents Heather and Rob, grandparents, extended family, teammates, teachers, school staff, and friends in the school’s library. Her decision to major in communications with a minor in marketing at the University of Toledo aligns with her academic aspirations, while her addition to the Rockets’ soccer team, coached by Mark Batman, is anticipated to strengthen the squad.
