Ithaca woman held on bail after residential burglary

In a quick response to an early morning burglary report, Ithaca Police arrested a local woman accused of stealing a television from a residence.

The incident, occurring in the early hours of November 25 led to the arrest of 42-year-old Moreen Robertson, of Ithaca.


The police were initially called to Bryant Avenue around 4:25 a.m. following reports of a burglary in progress. The homeowners reported hearing an intruder, prompting the call for police assistance. Although the suspect had fled the scene upon the officers’ arrival, a subsequent search of the neighborhood yielded a significant lead.

Approximately 30 minutes later, an officer noticed a woman in the 100 block of Catherine Street with a large TV protruding from the back seat of her car. Further investigation revealed that Robertson had entered a home on Catherine Street and taken the television.

She was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony.

Robertson was arraigned before Judge Seth Peacock of the Ithaca City Court and remanded to Tompkins County Jail with a bail set at $5,000 cash or bond. The Ithaca Police Department continues to investigate the matter and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
