Earlier this year, K2 Brothers Brewing, known for transforming unique spaces into vibrant taprooms, announced its latest venture: A new taproom set in the historic Freewill Elementary School building in Walworth.
Acquired in May, the brewery is underway with extensive renovations, blending modern brewing with a touch of nostalgia.

Now, the K2 team says the goal is to open the taproom by year’s end.
The initial phase will see the conversion of the old school’s cafeteria and auditorium into the primary taproom, complete with a full-service kitchen.

Additionally, plans include transforming two classrooms into private dining areas, creating a game area, an outdoor beer garden, and repurposing the small gym for indoor sports activities.
The brewery’s most significant upgrade is in the large gym, now the brewing area, which will increase their production capacity significantly. This expansion allows brewing at Freewill to commence next year.
