Sabres fall to Capitals in OT

The Buffalo Sabres jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in regulation but still fell 4-3 to the Washington Capitals in overtime on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena, dropping to 8-9-2 on the season.

Buffalo led 2-0 after 20 minutes, 3-2 after 40 minutes, but Washington tied the game with just over a minute remaining in the contest and won in OT.


JJ Peterka, Zach Benson, and Dylan Cozens scored for the Sabres. It was Benson’s first NHL goal in his ninth career game. Victor Olofsson collected a pair of assists.
