The New York Yankees made a trade ahead of Friday’s non-tender deadline.
New York sent outfielder/first baseman Jake Bauers to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for minor league outfielders Jace Avina and Brian Sánchez.
Avina, 20, has hit .249 (136-for-547) with 29 homers, 104 RBI, 83 BB and 14 SB in 163 games over two minor league seasons in Milwaukee’s organization (2022-23).
Sánchez, 19, made his professional debut in 2023, hitting .297/.414/.446 (30-for-101) with 19 RBI, 20 BB and 8 SB in 33 games with the DSL Brewers.
Bauers, 28, hit .202 (49-for-242) with 12 homers, 30 RBI, 27 BB and 3 SB in 84 games with the Yankees in 2023. He was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on December 9, 2022.
