Twenty-year-old Sabastian Stahlman, a resident of Canandaigua, has been charged with multiple felonies following a car accident in Yates County this past August.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the incident, which occurred in the early hours of August 20 on County House Road in Jerusalem. According to their findings, Stahlman failed to navigate a curve, resulting in the vehicle leaving the road and striking two trees.
The accident resulted in injuries to both Stahlman and his passenger, 19-year-old Scott Shoff of Penn Yan. Shoff had to be extricated from the vehicle by Branchport/Keuka Park firefighters. Following the accident, both men were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment. The specific nature of their injuries was not disclosed.
On Wednesday, Stahlman faced charges including assault and vehicular assault, both felonies, in addition to driving while intoxicated, speeding, and failure to wear a seat belt. Despite the severity of the charges, Stahlman was released on an appearance ticket.
