Sheriff Brian Schenck reported a domestic incident leading to the arrest of Michael F. Delpha Jr., 37, of Weedsport.

On November 7 around 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call from a residence on Jericho Road in the town of Brutus. The victim reported that during a dispute, Delpha Jr. had strangled her, making it difficult to breathe, after which she escaped the residence with her children.

Further investigation at the scene revealed that Delpha Jr. had also damaged the victim’s personal property.

Following the investigation, Delpha Jr. was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief.

He was then taken to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing.

However, the situation escalated at the facility when Delpha Jr. intentionally urinated on himself and the floor, then proceeded to roll in his urine, soaking his clothing. This behavior led to an additional charge of third-degree criminal tampering.

Delpha Jr. was subsequently arraigned on the morning of November 8 and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.

He is currently being held on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.
