On Monday around 12:20 a.m., Cayuga County’s 911 Center dispatched fire crews to a reported commercial fire at the Auburn Walmart.
On arrival, firefighters encountered a moderate smoke condition emanating from the front of the store, specifically on the grocery side.
A rapid and coordinated response was initiated to locate and address the source of the fire, according to officials with the Auburn Fire Department.
Firefighters commenced a search operation, successfully locating the fire in the restaurant area of the store.

Thanks to the swift and professional efforts of the responding fire crews, damage from the fire was confined to the area of origin, allowing Walmart to resume business operations the following morning.
The fire department also expressed gratitude to the Auburn Police Department, Auburn City Ambulance, and the New York State Police for their assistance.
The collaborative effort among these agencies played a crucial role in mitigating the impact of the fire and ensuring public safety, officials added.
