The Buffalo Sabres had a chance to collect four points this weekend but fell 4-0 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second game of a back-to-back on Saturday night at PPG Paints Arena, dropping to 7-7-1 on the season.
Buffalo was outshot 40-36 and could not capitalize on their two power-play chances. The Sabres are now 2 for their last 22 on the man advantage.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 36-of-39 shots. He gave up a goal in each period, the last of which came on the power play.
Zemgus Girgensons and Jeff Skinner led the team in shots on goal with five.
The Sabres will get a couple of days off before they return to action Tuesday night when they welcome the Boston Bruins to KeyBank Center.
