John Nesbitt, who served as a Wayne County Court Judge for over two decades, was found dead at his home in Sodus Point on Thursday.
The Finger Lakes Times reported his passing, noting that no foul play is suspected in his death.
Nesbitt, a respected figure in the Wayne County legal community, had retired from his judicial position at the end of 2022 after a distinguished 21-year career on the bench.
While the cause of death is currently unknown, the coroner’s office is in communication with Nesbitt’s family regarding the possibility of conducting an autopsy to determine the cause.
Earlier this week Nesbitt was elected to Sodus Point Village Board.
