A tragic accident occurred in the Town of Victor on November 3 when first responders were called to the scene at 964 Rabbit Ear Pass where a woman was found unresponsive.
The victim, Lee Osburne, 69, of Victor had been operating a John Deere lawnmower when it went over a five-foot retaining wall, resulting in her being trapped under the machinery.
The emergency services, including the Fishers Fire Department and Victor-Farmington Ambulance, attempted resuscitation but were unable to revive Mrs. Osburne.
She was subsequently declared deceased at the scene by Ontario County Coroner DeVaney. It was later determined by autopsy that Mrs. Osburne had succumbed to internal injuries caused by the weight of the lawnmower.
The incident highlights the potential dangers of operating heavy machinery near ledges or steep embankments. The specific causes behind the lawnmower’s fatal descent are still under investigation as the community mourns the loss of one of their residents.
